Market Shifts, But Cisco Dominates
Cisco Systems remained the dominant leader in the hyper-converged infrastructure market in the first quarter, but its closest competition, Nutanix, closed the gap, shipping nearly as many units through the channel as Cisco did, according to market research firm The NPD Group.
According to The NPD Group, Cisco shipped 1,533 hyper-converged systems through the channel during the quarter, far outpacing its main legacy IT hardware rivals, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Dell EMC. Still, changes are afoot in the market. HPE acquired SimpliVity, one of the hyper-convergence space's startup darlings, earlier this year, and Dell acquired data storage powerhouse EMC – which sells the fast-growing VxRail hyper-convergence system – late last year.
Here, according to NPD, are the top-selling hyper-convergence brands in the market.
