As mobile technology becomes a growing presence in business, a new survey highlights the roadblocks that impede or complicate the adoption of “bring your own device” (BYOD) policies in the workplace.
The global survey, conducted by Crowd Research Partners of more than 800 cybersecurity professionals within LinkedIn’s online Information Security Community, cited security and employee privacy as the biggest inhibitors.
Despite that, BYOD remains popular thanks to the convenience it provides employees. The survey found that increased employee mobility and employee satisfaction are the top two drivers of BYOD, cited by 63 percent and 55 percent, respectively. They’re considered more important than reduced costs, cited by just 47 percent of respondents as a key driver.
