Helping The IT Organization Stay Relevant
Nearly one-third of chief information officers find themselves playing back-seat roles when their businesses make IT purchasing decisions, according to a survey by strategic service provider Logicalis. But a growing number – 42 percent – are actively embracing a new internal service provider model to stay relevant with line-of-business colleagues.
Nine of every 10 CIOs worldwide are dealing with this phenomenon of “Shadow IT,” in which those line executives bypass IT, Logicalis said in November. As CIOs adjust their approaches to maintain or regain that clout, they may need to call on outside help to deliver needed services, maybe even more.
“We have to be the CIOs’ strategic advisor and provider of services and solutions that keep them not just relevant to their businesses, but able to support the innovation their line-of-business colleagues need in a digitally accelerating global economy,” Logicalis CEO Mark Rogers said in a statement.
