RF Code CEO On How VARs Will Shape IoT Market's Future
Submitted by Mark Haranas on
Cisco touts itself as the IoT leader. Who do you currently see as the largest vendor who is doing the most innovation and capturing the greatest market share based around IoT?
Cisco, IBM and Dell all revealed their intentions for the IoT within months of each other -- a sign of the industry's growing development. It will be these, and other, large IT software and services vendors that will also develop the vertical applications that run on third-party IoT platforms.
The likes of Cisco will provide the transport, while others like RF Code will provide the data collection and integration platform. IBM and others will write the "big data" analytics applications to satisfy the needs of industries such as healthcare, manufacturing and agriculture. The IoT should be about business specifics as well as innovation and IBM balances both well with its service proposition.
How does RF Code stack up against Cisco in regards to IoT? What's the differences?
Cisco has been promoting its "Internet of Everything" agenda for a long time, so it could be perceived as the "founder" of the IoT. RF Code, however, has been developing and selling IoT hardware and software for several years. We have amassed a valuable array of data from multiple industries, and are a recognized leader in the innovation and deployment of data center, healthcare and supply chain solutions. Where Cisco’s networking infrastructure will provide the transport and routing for an exponentially growing amount of data, RF Code will deliver the intelligent analysis applications to immediately derive value from that data.
We complement each other and will undoubtedly work together in many customer situations.
Have any new hot IoT startups caught your eye?
Companies such as Jasper catch the eye as it is building a position in the success of some household names like Microsoft, which Jasper recently partnered with. NEST is becoming a hub for the home, and systems that track logistics -- such as Fleetmatics -- are dramatically improving the performance of supply chains.
