DevOps Gains As A Strategy, But Does IT Have The Skills?

DevOps, which brings developers and IT operations pros closer together to help roll out new functionality more quickly and frequently, has caught on with most corporate IT organizations, according to a survey by NetEnrich, a managed services provider based in San Jose, Calif. Its survey of 200 IT executives in large and mid-market enterprises found that 68 percent said DevOps has been integrated well into their traditional IT and technical operations teams.

But on the other hand, 58 percent of IT departments do not have DevOps teams, NetEnrich said.

That creates an opening for MSPs with DevOps expertise to supplement internal IT teams and – by extension - ratchet up their knowledge, especially in organizations that have cultural barriers to overcome.
