Getting leadership involved doesn't mean just the C-Suite. In fact, Mayer said it is equally important to involve line managers as well in the process, because he has found they are often the least engaged when it comes to branding and they are the gateway to exciting the whole company about the brand.
"Unless your entire leadership team together defines what that brand strategy is ... it's not going to work," he said.
