3. Focus All Of Your Available Time On One Venture

Chesonis encouraged attendees to try to focus non-family and non-charitable activities on one business venture, despite any preexisting nature to be easily distracted, as he said he is.

"You will absolutely be more successful if you do that," he said, noting that he wished he had focused on three companies instead of 15 after selling Paetec.

"That would have been smart, and I [did] the opposite of what I should have be doing," he said. "But hopefully now that all [14] companies are growing up, I think four or five will be sold in the next two years and we won't fill that back up."
