Schwab explained that many companies don’t operate like D&H because it's not publicly owned.
In fact, Schwab explained, because D&H is employee-owned, it isn’t beholden to quarterly reporting and can afford to make long-term investments that would be difficult to make if the company's stock were publicly traded. That enables D&H to make longer-term investments that don't necessarily deliver continuous profit, and allows the company to risk less when it invests in emerging technologies.
