The survey also seemed to uncover a lot of risk aversion in business. Is that endemic of any particular segment? For instance, is it more prevalent with SMBs?
No, I would say the risk generally is a result of how nimble and how progressive in their thinking the leadership is. If leaders are open to new ideas and if leaders are progressive in their thinking, then it sort of sets the tone for the organization to know that they can try things and fail, and it's OK providing they learn. But I would say as a whole, organizations still struggle with the ability to accept failure.
I think we've even got a quote in the study that talks about the failure piece and it's from Thomas Edison: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." But it wasn't failure.
