We're seeing an explosion of new, easily accessible data. As IT professionals begin to study this easily accessible data, they start to realize there's information that was not previously available. New applications like social media, and information from machine-to-machine data and Internet-to-Internet data, give us new unstructured data. Deep learning (which is machine-learning techniques based on genetic algorithms) will become important in the future as computers begin to learn from massive amounts of data and make connections without being programmed to do so.
