But the sandboxing technology that IT security professionals are looking closely at are designed to wrap a layer of protection around Web browsers and popular applications that are highly targeted by criminals. The protection is designed to prevent malicious code from escaping to more critical system processes. Ultimately it makes attacks much harder to carry out, driving up the cost of attacks with the hope that it will force criminals to move on to easier targets.
