2 Big Data Analytics

IBM, HP and RSA have added big-data analytics to their SIEM platforms, leveraging Hadoop analytics framework to glean insight into structured and unstructured data. The vendors are developing automated statistical analysis and visual mapping tools to help data scientists uncover security issues. Other vendors providing security analytics include Scuronix, 21CT, Bay Dynamics, Fortscale, and Narus, the subsidiary of Boeing which was recently acquired by Symantec. Those firms use analytics to identify suspicious activity that may be associated with malicious user behavior. It’s an additional security layer that is being considered by large organizations that have the budget and personnel to proactively use and gain value out of the analytics platforms.
