Five Tips For Avoiding Corporate Data Leakage

Employ data loss prevention to monitor data leaving the organization

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is a system designed to prevent unintentional data leaks by auditing protected data before it leaves your organization. DLP solutions thoroughly inspect a document before it’s sent and then compares it against an analysis of content against company data restrictions, which could include the document’s source, destination, credit card number or sensitive intellectual property. Ideally, your DLP solution should enable you to create compound or customizable data types. Among other benefits, this allows you to audit and automatically flag or block any document containing multiple data types, such as social security and credit card account numbers.
