Central IT Taking The Reigns
More than 62 percent of the enterprises polled said the majority of their cloud purchase decisions are now being made by their central IT divisions.
That's a departure from the early cloud days when adoption of the technology was mostly driven by small tech companies and forward-looking business units within larger enterprises.
While central IT and business units within the enterprise once commonly disagreed about cloud usage, with business units desiring more agility and concerned central IT was too cautious in cloud adoption, that rift is closing.
In the last year, central IT's expectations for cloud usage have come closer to those of business units, much of that due to central IT's declining concerns about cloud security.
