Database management services aren't just for presidential campaigns, though.
Smaller campaigns are increasingly realizing that they too need good data operations, and Anderson said good, strong cloud databases can manage donations at little cost. Specifically, he encouraged state and local campaigns to set up unique donation pages that can be monitored through a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
"Unfortunately, a lot of campaigns are still run on Excel spreadsheets," Anderson said.
However, crowdsourced fundraising such as CruzCrowd requires a large network of followers to successfully expand the spread of the campaign. Therefore, Anderson doesn't expect these efforts to become too prevalent at the state or local level.
"For smaller campaigns, it's just not feasible," he said.
