Another opportunity ScanSource CEO Mike Baur pinpointed for resellers was 3D Printing. While only handful of resellers, in the "low hundreds," are buying the technology from ScanSource right now, Baur said that he sees opportunities for resellers to bring the technology to manufacturing, engineering and prototyping industries. What is limiting resellers, he said, is the prohibitive cost of entry for demo machines, warranties and engineering support. However, he said he expects those prices to go down over time and the barrier to entry to be lowered.
